Frequently asked questions

Which US airport has the best on-time performance?

Daniel K. Inouye International (HNL) currently ranks #1 with 82.9% of flights arriving on time, based on official BTS data for the 12 months ending 2024.

Which US airport has the most flight delays?

Newark Liberty International (EWR) has the lowest on-time rate in this ranking at 70.2%. High-traffic hub airports and airports with frequent severe weather tend to rank lower.

How is on-time performance measured?

We use the US Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) data, the same source airlines report to. A flight counts as on-time if it arrives within 15 minutes of schedule.

Can I protect myself from delays at a high-risk airport?

Yes — book with airlines that have strong same-day rebooking policies, avoid the last flight of the day, and keep a phone-only agent on speed dial. CheapoTrav's agents rebook delayed or cancelled flights for $0, often faster than the airline's own gate queue.
